Carrara Marlbles
History

Marble was born around 200 million years ago when Tuscany was still flooded by the waters. The tectonic plates rubbing and the very high temperatures made calcium carbonate the marble that we know today.
The human presence on the Apuan territory does not match up to III-IV sec. but only with the arrival of the Romans in the first decades of the 2nd century B.C. you are beginning to find a serious interest in marble. By the time of the Augustan era, numerous works were performed between aqueducts, fountains, statues, ornaments and monuments in general.
Marble then lost its fame until the year 1000; after the barbarian invasions, the material returns to be used.
Only in the Renaissance marble is transformed into works of art that have come to this day thanks to genes such as Michelangelo and Bernini. Even today, the material of the Apuan Alps, continues to be used around the world for great artistic works and not only.
